Since Marble Bar’s inception in 2015, it has become a bastion of Detroit’s underground club scene and the city’s house and techno landscape, championing electronic music pioneers from home and abroad. This May, it unveils a new party, You Buy We Fry, a 21 hour jaunt, celebrating music that emerged from the Midwest and went on to change the world.

The party will sprawl across the Marble property, with DJs and live acts playing from 7am on Monday until 4am Tuesday morning The 2 stages are set between the traditional dancehall vibe of the main ballroom, and the club’s lush, open air greenhouse on their outdoor patio, while the contrast of the post-industrial city surrounds the venue on all sides. It makes the Marble Bar a curious, intimate disco oasis in the middle of a vast concrete jungle.

You Buy We Fry is Marble Bar’s most ambitious undertaking to date, a sprawling house driven party, that features some of the most exciting selectors in the world, with a focus on those who have close ties to the spirit and sensibility of electronic music’s origins. The inaugural edition of YBWF will showcase the deepest, most soulful shades of dance music, with Marble Bar offering a respite from the techno driven Movement weekend.

You Buy We Fry celebrates titans of the American dance music scene, artists without whom, electronic music would not look or sound the same. The raw in-your face house of Omar S, a B2B set from New York’s Body and Soul founder Joe Claussel and Chicago house pioneer Ron Trent, and of course the incredible deep jazzy compositions of Osunlade. Also joining the line-up will be rare groove iconoclast Sadar Bahar, fellow deep house enthusiast, Detroit-born, Patrice Scott and the Chicago house duo H Foundation, as Hipp-E & Halo celebrate 20 years of their partnership under the name.

While primarily built around homegrown talent, You Buy We Fry will nod to Detroit’s global influence, with sets from kindred spirits like Move D and Tama Sumo from Berlin, South African born Panorama Bar resident and Chicago house obsessive Lakuti, as well as an all cassette tape sunrise set from LA-based Awesome Tapes from Africa to launch the party.

You Buy We Fry extends the invitation to enjoy a dance with some of the most exciting names from the history and future of Detroit. Two of the mid-West’s first ladies of dance music, Stacey Hotwaxx and DJ Minx have been wowing crowds since the 1980s. Both will perform on Memorial Day, the latter going b2b with Motor City production & DJ duo Ataxia. They’ll be joined by subsequent generations of talent, names like Beige, Mira Fahrenheit, Deep South collective's Ash Lauryn, and the NYC DJ twins, Analog Soul. Rounding out the bill are performances from fellow Detroiters Kevin Reynolds and Peter Croce.
